    More Production

    Currently, we are running the honey & beeswax portion of our business purely through our laundry room and kitchen. Our garage is also overrun with all the hive boxes we need. More space means faster, easier, and increased production. We would be able to carry honey year round consistently to the community; no more being sold out!

    Ability to Expand

    With a streamlined space, we not only will be able to produce more varieties of candles & lotions, but also increase how much honey we produce. Right now, we are hard pressed to finish an entire extraction in one day, which we have to do since it is in our personal kitchen. With a honey house, we would be able to break up the process a bit more and therefore harvest more if the bees provide! More honey means more all natural and healthy products for you! This also means we have space and time to expand the business.

    Saving More Bees

    With an expanded business, we can increase how many bee yards we will be caring for. At a certain amount of hives, an apiary reaches a saturation point and there is a cap on the amount of honey able to be harvested. With multiple locations, we can care for plenty of more bees while still harvesting the yard’s full potential of honey.

    Local Benefits

    With several locations comes the fact that we will have honey made from nectar of different plants. Our northern Bedford area has a slightly different plant population than Lynchburg. Your honey would now include the nectar of plants even closer to you if you do not live in Bedford! Talk about REALLY local honey!

 FAQs

  • It’s just the name for our building that we are dedicating solely to the apiary half of Mosermade Sawmill & Apiary. It will have space for us to put in our very large, vintage extractor that used to be Luke’s great uncle’s. So the entire extraction process will take place here instead of our personal kitchen. It will also have space for us to bottle and package the honey for shipping. The kitchen portion is being built for all things beeswax: candles, lotion bars, beeswax wraps, and more!

  • We are aiming to have it, at the bare minimum, functional for our first spring extraction in 2025. It took us a very long time to do the 2024 extractions as we had so much more honey that year. And that was only harvesting from a little fewer than 20 hives. We will (hopefully) nearly double that amount come 2025 which means we will have a lot more honey!
